Membership
Member can use the term REALTOR®.
Members must abide to the Code of Ethics which they subscribe to when they join a board.
Due process refers to the right to a full and fair hearing before an impartial tribunal with a full and complete knowledge of the charges made and with adequate opportunity to prepare a defense.
The bylaws of the local and state associations document the privileges to which they are entitled.
Membership Meetings
To apply for membership in the Kenosha REALTORS® Association as a REALTORS®, there are only one of two requirements to meet: a potential REALTORS® member must either be an individual licensed to sell real estate in the state of Wisconsin as a broker or salesperson or be a certified or licensed appraiser.
Each firm must designate one REALTORS® member, Designated REALTORS® (DR), who shall be responsible for all duties and obligations of Membership including the obligation to arbitrate pursuant to Article 17 of the Code of Ethics and the payment of Board dues. The Designated REALTORS® must be a sole proprietor, partner, corporate officer or branch office manager acting on behalf of the firm’s principal(s) and must meet all other qualifications for REALTORS® membership as established in the KRA bylaws.
When a member joins their local Board as a REALTORS®, they automatically gain membership in the National and State Associations.
Other types of membership include: Affiliate, Affiliate Associate, Service and Public Service.
Affiliate members shall be individuals licensed or certified to engage in real estate practice who do not elect to hold REALTORS® membership in the Board, provided the applicant is engaged exclusively in a specialty of the real estate business other than brokerage or real property.
Affiliate Associate members are individuals employed with an Affiliate Member in the same branch office.
Institute Affiliate members shall be individuals who hold a professional designation awarded by a qualified Institute, Society, or Council affiliated with the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® that addresses a specialty area other than residential brokerage or individuals who otherwise hold a class of membership in such Institute, Society or Council that confers the right to vote or hold office. Any such individual, if otherwise eligible, may elect to hold REALTORS® membership, subject to payment of applicable dues for such membership.
Service members are providers of services for property owners.
PublicService members are individuals who are interested in the real estate profession as employees of or affiliated with educational, public utility, governmental or other similar organizations, but are not engaged in the real estate profession on their own account or in an association with an established real estate business.
To apply for membership, persons shall contact the association to let them know where their interest lies. Staff will be happy to meet with the individual to determine their needs and process their application.
